Very little moves in this place unless it is stolen. It's almost a worthless place to post anymore it seems. The highest bid I could get on two blogs - one a hosted PR3 and the other a PR5 - making $70+ per month was 4x monthly revenue, which is nuts. Now I agree I don't have a clue what I am doing. But my one-quarter of a million HONEST pageviews last quarter at the one blog has to be worth more than $280, especially when you consider there is a PHPbb3 discussion forum also included that has another 44,000 pageviews in December so far alone. What am I doing wrong? Is it because the site is in DMOZ that is throwing everyone off? Is it because I have an Amazon Kindle contract? Because the site has done such a good job it is hard linked from a PR8/9 type site? Or is it nobody likes baseball sites that much, even if making good money? Well, perhaps I shouldn't agree to post new content daily for the next year. Maybe I stink too much in everyone's eyes? I guess I should just stick to scouting.. I'm not getting anywhere here. That's for sure.
You will find better luck on SitePoint. From what I've seen most people here will either grossly underbid for your site or bash you for asking too much. The serious site buyers are monitoring SitePoint much more closely.
Yea, like he said, go to SitePoint. I've sold CashBulge on here for a decent amount, and sold my other video websites on DNScoop actually for over a grand.
Agreed. While I have done plenty of business here, I prefer SP because it's much easier for me as a buyer, or seller, to keep track on my bids. That said, I also do not get insulting offers on sites. People who actually know what things are worth, and have more than beer money to their name seem to be more serious about doing business. Of course, this is based on my experience alone ($20k in the 2007 for example). But as I mentioned, I have done plenty off of DP. But, again in my experience, a lot is talk, or just insane bids. I would say 40% closes on DP, and 95% on SP for me. 2 cents.
Yeah i agree i think the reason many of us post here is because of that fact! SP is $20 and DP is FREE. although when you think about it you get what u pay for lol !!!
The secret is behind the word BLOG People prefer content sites and for a content site with $70 monthly revenue you will find much better offer than for blog with the same revenue ! .... my 2 cents
If I could ... Just treat it like a business and do not take it personally. I have bought so much from this forum I bet I have spent in excess of 10 grand if not more!!! And those who know me here ..know I almost always pay BIN because I now I want it ..and... I want no other to get from me. heheheh Now Sitepoint is to expensive to cut into your profits unless you have a big project to sale and even then I really have lost more than I have gained form them. So .. this forum rocks and give it some time and keep moving and shaking because you will find a nitch here soon. Take care.. Tk
This forum can be frustrating as hell, but it's a life saver for me. I quit my job about 4 months ago to do internet marketing full time. Whenever I'm short on cash or need a quick $100 I can usually toss something up on the forum here to get it. I don't always get as much as I'd like to, but if you treat it like a business, follow up with your past clients, do your best to make people happy, you can make some money here. Besides, you can't beat the price.
you see - that's exactly it. But it's funny you should say that because most of the newspaper dalies are now changing their content streams TO blogs. And I even had one newspaper group kick my tires this year to add my "blog" to their site. Go figure. Well as I said before, 15,000 backlinks, 1,500 pages indexed in Google, a DMOZ listing, $70 per month in revenue, and two years of content on one subject has to be worth more than $280. Especially when the niche is only 30 MLB teams deep and my blog is the #1 fan blog of one of the 30 niches. That seems pretty much like a content site to me. But again, I don't know what I'm doing in the SEO world. Isn't a PR5 domain by itself worth $280 even with no traffic? Perhaps not, but to a SEO pro, I bet it is just for selling links. Thanks everyone.
I understand it is worth more than $280 but there is content that has long-term value while blogs are mostly reflection of recent events. Content websites have content that if I simplify things, never gets old if you know what I mean ...
I make several transactions on DP every week.. I do go to sitepoint if I'm buying a site or style tho.
The B/S/T is full of dumbarses and n00bs. They dont realize when they see a good offer - all they want is false hope/promises/shitty ebooks. Feck ye all.
Right. Which helps thin the heard between players, and punks IMHO. Each site has it's good and bad points for doing business. I guess in the end, once compliments the other where lacking. 2 cents.
True in a way. And not to mention, after someone attempts to sell an eBook, usually within a few minutes you have numerous people wanting a free review copy and even some stating that "you" won't sell any unless they get one.
