I have bunch of e-mail accounts from all the big e-mail providers out there but I use my G-mail for everything.
I guess technically I have one cause of Adsense, but I never use it! My own webmail system works much better
With the idea that whatever suits your needs is what you should use... I use Gmail, both for personal and business. I have every domain I manage for myself or others under gmail. Some of these are managed with Google apps which has email service built in but for your domain. I've used Basic and pro editions, but I haven't tried the education one yet. The most compelling reason I think to use gmail is its enormous interaction capabilities with the other google services. With both free and paid accounts you get gmail +google docs, calendar, google notebook, and any other service you want to use can easily be attached to this account, making it ideal for central management in a small company. This makes it very easy to share information internally for a very cheap price and virtually hands free. I've moved 3 clients away from their back office systems to google apps. the "gmail" accounts that each employee got gave them access to google docs instead of their old unmaintained wiki. access to shared calendars that work instantly without hassle instead of Exchange/Outlook's kludgy appointment system. They can share huge videos for training and demos internally without any resources besides their b/w. They can share information easily internally and easily to external parties and be as selective as they can. A "gmail" account isn't just for mail... much like a yahoo account isn't just for mail. People forget all the other things you get with each one, I prefer google's offerings but I also depend heavily in my yahoo account for delicious, messenger, flickr and pipes and a few other services I can't think of right now. I make my "gmail" the primary account for e-mail because I like having 25+GB of space available, I like labels and conversations and how I hardly ever see a single piece of spam. Oh yeah and the contact management is outstanding too. I used to run and manage Exchange servers for clients, and also sendmail & postifx. I no longer set new offices with those servers, I always recommend google mail for businesses --so long as your business isn't bulk mailing. I don't know G's policies on that. As a webmaster, IMO it is imperative that you know and use a google account because at least some of your potential clients use it too and this could open huge opportunities for you to add services to your offerings. I think I'm way past my 2 cents but somewhere up there should be at least a couple good reasons to at least try an account, as others have pointed out once it clicks into one's workflow, one will wonder how he or she did without it before.
Technically, I do have a gmail account, but I never use it for anything. I check it once every few months to clean out the spam... My yahoo mail is my primary (business) account. Yahoo mail has search too.
well I have a gmail account as well as yahoo but still I prefer gmail because of it's perceived security compare to it's rivals..(it makes me sleep better at nights )
I use Windows Live Hotmail and they offer 5GB free space. Now, when was the last time your space was filled more than 2 Gig? Mine's never been over 500 MB and i got thousands of emails.
how much e-mail? -- You are currently using 4082 MB (55%) of your 7350 MB. way past 2GB. I've helped some people move to Gmail where some individuals had mailboxes of 12-20 or more GBs. Trust me, some people use e-mail way more than you think.
I don't have one. Not because I don't like gmail, but because before Gmail came out, I already had Yahoo. Pointless to switch
