Hi, This probably goes for many forums and it can be a fundamental part of your strategy, so if you have some answers I would appreciate it. When you change your signature link, it appears to that the sig link in all your previous posts are changed to the new signature. Does that mean that when google goes over those pages in the DP threads, that it will change all of the link power to direct to the new link you created effectively erasing all of the link work you did for the original pages? Since most forums seem to do this - is it just reflecting what your new signature is (ie showing it but not actually changing the links), or is it really changing the link in all the previous post too? Thanks, Bruce
To be honest I haven't noticed me changing my sig actually changing it in old posts on forums for some years. Maybe that is just my experience but I know when I change the links to my software in my sig I still get sales from old posts to my old links. In fact I have posts on this very forum where my old posts do not contain any links whereas my current sig clearly has 2 links to my softwares in them.
Theoritically all the link will change according to the latest link on all the previos post. However, you will actually found that only certain percent of backlink will be given from the previous post depend on the forum, I found basically you will get about 60% from Dp forum. Mean you change your signature link at Dp if you have 1000 posts, basically you will get about 600+ backlink from Dp to your new website link.
They are very effective if you want to get some fast traffic but I don't know what kind of impact they have when it comes to SEO!
I have just asked this because lately I have been trying to target my dog treats page (the main thing i sell on my site) rather than the homepage. just dont want to completely kill off links to the homepage with the changes. So it appears that no one has fully thought this through as they change sig links? I thought this would have been a main issue for an IM person, UNLESS of course you just want to boost links to your new client and it doesnt matter if the links for the old client is erased? just speculating ... any more thoughts or actual hard facts?
