I'm pretty sure it's a CMS framework, my hosting site uses it, also my personal site.

 

80% of our client base is from Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Canada, etc. Europe, Asia and Canada seem to be where most North American institutions go for their TYPO3 development needs.

Case in point, Harvard University had a Canadian agency do their TYPO3 implementation.

TYPO3 is both search engine friendly and optimized if configured properly. TYPO3 can be further search engine marketing enabled through unique titles, automated scripting of meta descriptions, seo friendly image headings, built in RSS feeds etc.

Holding up well, although almost all of the pages are cached statically into files, so it's not putting a lot of pressure on MySQL like in a normal installation.
