I have a high traffic site that I've been thinking of offering low cost CPM spots on, like $0.30 per thousand or something, but the spot is better suited to 728x90 sized ads than normal banners (468x60) because of the site layout. So, I'm wondering if there's a market among webmasters for leaderboard sized ads or should I tweak the site a bit to make the spot more suited towards the smaller banner sizes? All thoughts and ideas are welcomed and appreciated, thanks, Scott
I feature 728x90 ads on my site and have no complaints. The way the advertisers see it, it's more exposure for them
It was almost my understanding that advertisers prefer "bigger is better", which is why a lot of the CPM ad networks tend to favor/"suggest" the leaderboards instead of the 468. I think you are safe offering just the leaderboard.
I see the leaderboard in quite a few places recently and they seem to becoming more and more popular. I would try work with it.
I agree with Matthew. Websites such as netbusinesstalk.com (not mine, so don't consider it promotion) I know to be very successful with those large advertisements.
Thanks for all the input. I know there's a market for leaderboard spots, especially if you have an account with one or more ad networks (I do). I guess I'll post an offering here at some point soon to see though if individual webmasters would actually be interested in such spots at a low rate or if it's really better to just use a 3rd party serving network. Usually, I only see text-link or normal (468x60) ad offers and requests here, that's why I wondered if there'd be interest or not. Thanks again, Scott
