I know that good keywords are a factor to whether an article will rank high in the search engines. But what else can I do to make an article that will rank high in the search engines and is there any other good tips for keywords that have alot of searches even though they have some competion that I could use fro an article.
Try some keyword research: Adwords Keyword Tool i suggest. And for ranking high, it will do if you submit it to article directories like ezinearticles.
Quality content generally is indicated by others linking to it. Build backlinks to your articles and your articles willl rank.

Could someone explain then how I typed out a quick forum advertisement and it's ranked 1st on google in like 4 days? Google ranked the post 1st right out of a forum, it just takes you right to the post...google "freelance graphic leads" and please explain for all of us!

Select keywords for which you want the higher rank of article. Then use the keywords in title, first line of 1st paragraph and last line of last paragraph.
do keyword research. write quality article around those keyword research. do some marketing for that article.
So creating more backlinks to the article will help push it up the search engines, as long as I use the same keywords that I originally used in the article. I will try that and how would I go about checking the site I post on to see if I could get a high quality backlink to my artile. Im just gonna assume for know that they should have a high Page rank. Correct me if Im wrong but I think there is more to it, Just not sure.
