Does anyone have any experience here for setting up a charity website?

    Hello fellow DP Members.

I'm currently in the beginning stages of setting up a project to supply mosquito nets to some of the hardest hit, malaria prone areas of Africa.

Each year, somewhere in the region of 1 million under 5 year year olds die of malaria each year.

One of the single most effective solutions to cutting back on this very sad and high number of malaria related deaths, is the supply of insecticidal mosquito nets, which for us in the western world can be bought very cheaply, whereas in many parts of Africa, the cost of each mosquito net is extremely prohibitive for many people there, to be in a position to afford them.

One mosquito net can last between 4-5 years and typically will provide protection for 2 very small kids from being being bitten by mosquitoes, typically between 10pm and 4am in the morning, with around 1am being the most critical time of the night.

I've bought a domain under the .org / .com and the .net and upon this platform I'm looking to set up a site, which will hopefully be able to supply a large number of mosquito nets to exactly where they are needed on the ground, within local communities upon that continent.

DonateANet is aiming to give 100% of the donations received, which will totally go towards buying the mosquito nets and their distribution to where they are needed most.

I'm looking for mature and experienced individuals here with a lot of charity experience who from time to time, will not mind me writing them, either by pm or by email, to ask them for advice upon a number of subjects, just every now and again.

If you are one such individual, with a social entrepreneurial mindset and with experience gained in the charity field directly, and have direct strategy implementation skills and experience, would you mind if I contact you to ask for your advice please occasionally?

If this has piqued your interest, please do post below, with a brief resume of your experience and how you can assist me within this field.

In advance, I truly appreciate your kindly assistance with this project.

    A great many thanks!

    Mark

Don't know if I can help you but I did a lot of charity work for the Virginia Tech massacre. Did websites, donations, talked with school officials, and gave out those white bands for donating. All in all in was a huge success.

Ahhhhh it's the ever illustrious McFox, that little Scottish blighter from back along.

    How's things with you?

I'm glad I'm down here at this time of year and not up your end mate, (no pun intended). ;)

I see your mate RichUser has been banned yet again! :D

So, what brings you back, you cantankerous old fart to my threads? Don't tell me, God forbid, you want to act as my new advisor! :D

    If so, bloody hell! lol

    Best wishes.

Of course not, that's what makes me unique.

Give me some credit, I'm better than I was, and let's face it, you were so blinkin' irritating back then yourself, a typical Gaelic shit stirrer, ruddy pain in the neck you were. ;)

How are your views of the Anglo Saxons coming along? :D

No wonder you've got over 6000 posts, writing this dribble.

Have you actually got any useful advice for me or not regarding the topic in hand? :D

Don't be silly. Of course not! :p What was the subject anyway? Oh yeah, a website to help raise money for free mosquito nets for African children and you want some Interneters and webmasters to help you out sometimes when you need some advice. There's bound to be a few people on here with charity site experience that could help you out.

Guys, guys, guys, it's an interesting thread that has been opened here. We should be talking about charity website ideas but it doesn't seem to be happening.

Well, get on with it then. :D

The British humour I admit does seem to have got the better of us, sorry about that. Magawr pulls himself back together.

So, what were about to say? I'm all ears! :)
