I have been using Adsense for a while now, and have netted around $10. Does anyone have any tips on how to optimize my earnings?
I wrote a posting once, maybe this would help: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1318744
my tip is just simple in order to earn on adsens you need. Unique content + adsplacement + SEO/website promotion = Money in adsense.. thats my simple formula to be successful in adsense.
They might not like this, but it works. Set up "traps" on your website where a user will end up on a page where they expect to have to do an action, like a download. Basically you just load up the page with similar keywords and information about the action. So, anti virus download page is loaded with download info like system requirements but the only links are adsense ones.
Try to increase your CTR. Try different ad units and place them in different places, see which combination gives you the best results. Also, try to increase your traffic. The more traffic your site have and the better CTR you have, the more you can earn via adsense.
You can have all the traffic in the world... but traffic in and of itself while needed is not the answer. Yes you need people in front of your ads, and you need your ads in front of people. You need placement where the ads are easily seen and the offers in the ads will be read. But if you really want to make money you need to match the content of the advertisement with whatever your visitor is looking for. It's a mistake to think that you can just load up a site with ads and make money just because you have traffic. Look at your log files, where do your visitors come from and what are they looking for? Match an ad to their reason for visiting, put it where they will see it and read it, and don't give them a reason not to visit the ad. This means for pages that have adsense you don't want a lot of competing external links. Ads that are not performing need to be removed or the pages reworked.
