Does anyone have a REAL Adware.Gen removal tool?

Ok, I downloaded what seemed to be a legit thing and it infected one of my computers with Adware.gen. I removed it using Avira, however every time I reboot the computer Adware.gen shows up again. Avira keeps blocking it, but the fact that it keeps showing up is annoying. How do you completely remove that sh*t??

BTW, I followed a lot of steps given online, none of them worked. So, I do not really need a link to another useless page. I need a link to a removal tool that works.

    reboot into safe mode

I generally use spybot, cc cleaner and then a simple file search and delete. The only ones that have ever caused much trouble are whitesmoke and babylon.

FWIW I got my daughter's HP laptop fixed under warranty and it came back with adware installed so I got some extra practice.

I got it. I had to show hidden files / folders first, find that particular folder and delete it. In my case I could only delete it in the Safe Mode.

Whew. Took me almost two days to figure this one out.

Normally the step by step guides online works, but what they often fail to mention is that you need to show all files, and preferably do the work while in safe mode. For those of us who do this for a living, this is more or less a given and common sense - we're often forgetting that not everyone is as experienced.
However, often the simplest way of removing the most annoying infections is a reinstall.
