Hi I was just wondering if anyone ever gets traffic from free directories because i have submitted to quite a number recently, yet no traffic has come from any of these sources:confused:

Yes I do, but I have sites that have been submitted to thousands and thousands of them. So, after lets say 10,000 submissions I get around 20-30 visits a month per site. Hope that helps.

Yes it does help, I'd lost faith in filling in the entry's for the sites and apparently getting nowhere but if it helped you, I'll continue and it should help me too :)

Nobody gets traffic from directories (free & paid).
Directories are used for link building not for direct traffic.
After submitting to a lot of directories you should see traffic from the search engines.

What a load of rubbish. I've had loads of traffic from paid and bid directories.

As for free directories, you wont get much, unless they are well promoted or well browsed niche.

Very little in general. These submissions are more for seo purposes rather then traffic.

I am echoing what some others have already said...very little traffic will come from the directories, but link building is what its all about. The more directories you submit, means more links, which results in higher rankings, which results in more traffic...
If interested, there is a free blog directory, easy to submit...it is in my sig...

    Keep pushing on...

my guess is that the owner of the directory probably gets the most traffic, especially after you submit with a good email addy, and then they spam the living hell out of you.

Word of advise; if it's free:

    1. use a bogus email addy
    2. it's not going to last

Oh i see what you guy's are saying, it help's get the site noticed on search engines more than anything else. When i search for my site all i find are links to another forum where I was discussing my content and had a link to the site but maybe the site hasn't been added to Google yet and when it will these links will be more important?

Some of us do get traffic from directories. For example, I got 45 visitors from 2yi.net last month. Granted, that's not much. But it's 45 better than zero. :)

I get a lot more traffic from social bookmarking sites than I get from directories, though.

Sure, 45 is better than zero :) (hopefully they were real visitors and not webmasters)

Here are the "featured" links from the Health category of the same directory:

This is my last post in this thread. I have absolutely nothing else to say :D

Look at the top hits in some niche directories. Different story.

it only help u for increseing your backlink quantity and if u r do submission for traffic then leave it and do forum posting in high quality forum or social bookmarking.

u can post your url in signature and u will get traffic better then directories with quality backlinks.

    :)

    Hello...

I can tell ya that our adult directory sends tons of traffic to sites listed
so to say that directories DONT send traffic is false. (just depends on niche)
