yes after the panda update lots of webmasters are looking to seo for yahoo and bing and also try to get traffic from facebook where there is lots of traffic.
I think google will not have real competition in the short term future, since it has the biggest share of the search engine market around the world.
Only the people who panda effected have had to do that and to be honest, with the right SEO, the panda update really didn't make much difference, if anything it helped websites in the world of SEO. But in terms of SE competition, Yahoo/Bing are always going to be there and they will pretty much always get used, but neither will ever be as big as Google.
I dont think I'm going to do seo for yahoo or bing. If you managed to get on 1st pos. in yahoo or bing how much visits you'll get ? 100 times more visits you'l get if you managed to get on 1st pos. in Google results.
That's a question that is really hard to answer or foresee. I know a lot of non professional webmasters are already wandering off and try to optimize more for Yahoo and Bing. Those search engines might not have a high market share as Google does but in my honest opinion and as per my own experience, they send a more targeted/quality traffic with a lower bounce rate than Google does. A lot of site owners are happier with getting some decent traffic from Bing and Yahoo than hardly no traffic from Google because Google with it's almost monthly changes in their algorithm and panda updates makes it harder and harder for non professionals to at least decently rank their sites. Please note, I am not talking about the professional SEO specialists who always will go for the search engines with the biggest market share. I am talking about those webmasters they can't afford to hire expensive SEO consultation and services but are actually having good quality sites and content. Also, there are a few search engine based outside the US that do a pretty good job and may become a serious competition to Google as they will expand more globally and offer country specific searches in future. Don't underestimate such search engine like Yandex. Bing, as per some statistics, has gained in popularity a lot for the past year and Google already is losing some market shares to Bing. Also, PPC advertising on Bing is less expensive than Google's adwords, which also will drive more webmasters and marketers to Bing. Just my 2 cents Cheers verdecove
No, you mean garbage web sites that most DP users have that don't matter to anyone and THAT is the reason their suffering. And rightly so. If you want to optimize for Bing/Yahoo, then you're aiming to be the big fish in a small pond but do you really think larger companies don't also do SEO for Bing and Yahoo?
I think Bing and Yahoo have a lot of chance for us, and if you are dominate them, it can help you make more money.
Well I don't think Google will have any real competitors in Seo near future, but I do think that Google worries about the growing Facebook popularity, that's why it launched new social network Google+ Because Facebook started to give muchtraffic and it's the only other website online that so many people use everyday
Definitely not. Google is the center of seo. When people think of search engines, they think of google. And if you are trying to promote your site, and increase traffic, seo through google is the way to go. I don't see Yahoo or Bing dominating Google any time soon. Though facebook's growing popularity may cause google to worry, facebook is more of a social tool rather than an a seo tool
Google's PR dropped but it doesn't mean that they are in Competition . Their must be a reason for doing this. I think they are trying to prove that How ethical Google Panda is
yes, most definitely. it's just a question of time. like with many other near-monopolist companies before, at their prime, people couldn't imagine how someone could possibly come and be competition for them. yet they all do falter at some point. when Google first came about in around 2000, Altavista/Yahoo were absolutely dominant and it didnt seem like it would be possible for anyone to do anything about it... we know the outcome. the same thing will probably happen to Google at some point.
