Does anyone else get strange results at the start of the year?

I think something fishy is going on with my website. I have had a good solid conversion rate on Amazon and clicks have been around 500 a month for a while. However since the start of the year my clicks have strangely tripled yet my conversion rate is extremely low. I am just finding this incredibly strange as to why my clicks would triple since my traffic has been dropping - I am still on first pages of Google its just the lower searches. Fair enough its a new year people are skint but I find this soo strange. I am promoting all year round products so its not a seasonal thing.

Have you done any split testing to see what can get you a higher CVR? Or were you just enjoying the CVR you were at when you had more traffic? There are too many variables to why this could be happening. Is your site speed ok? Did you change anything at the beginning of the year? Most people click on the top 3. And if you're at the bottom of the search result more than likely those are more analytical users who are probably still in "research" mode. It all depends on the keywords as well. Good luck.

I haven't been interested in optimising my click thru rate yet since I am focusing on getting content on my website. I am not getting enough visitors to test which layouts are best etc so I am not worried about that for now. What I am worried about is and I cannot understand, why my click thru rate has tripled all of sudden???Especially since my traffic is dropping for natural reasons. I think Amazon may have messed up the reports.

Maybe you changed a call to action? Are you cloaking the links? Why don't you try a link cloaker and compare both reports side by side. Pretty Link Pro should give you that info as well (assuming you're using Wordpress)..

Almost all social media sites can contribute to higher visit rate and seemingly lower rate of conversions. Every time I post new tweets or mention something on G+ I instantly get 100-200 visits, but they don't convert into sales that well (or at all).

It could be just that in your case too. If you've got busy Twitter, G+ or Facebook accounts, cease all activity for a few days, see if your CTR/sales ratio stabilizes.

No its definitely not social site related. I was averaging about 20 clicks a day at the end of last year then in January for some unknown reason shoots up to 40 and 90 as traffic drops. Now for all of January I posted nothing to the site because I was changing the look of it. I uploaded the new files on 2nd of February so it has had no effect. Could someone be checking me out?

I have just checked my Amazon report again and I have found the problem. If I go to the standard order report(which I normally use) it displays clicks, ordered items etc and clicks looks way off for last month and this month. However if I go into their link type report which displays number of links I get a much much more realistic figure(number of clicks cut by half). I cross checked this with December and it matches very closely to Decembers order report. So yea I think for some reason the numbers have just gone wildly off in the normal order report for this month and last month possibly a new year update?

What's your problem there's no need to be so rude. I posted this in case others experienced a similar problem. You know one report states one thing and another states another thing so there is obviously a problem on Amazons end. Both reports can't be correct even if any so who's to know which one is correct? I don't see any problem with the post I made its bringing a problem forward that may need addressed.

I am not being rude. I just don't like when people make an issue out of something that is not an issue at all. Do you need to get likes? You will get them in due time. But don't try to get them by BSing everyone. I don't think you have an issue. You make it SOUND like you have an issue.
Having said that I digress. I think there are other folks here who will say to you the same thing. They are smarter than you think they are.

No I don't need or want to get likes and I haven't used this website in a long time because people like you constantly leave rude and stupid messages. I am not BSing everyone whatever that is supposed to mean. Why would I want to tell everyone about a fake issue? Other folks will say what exactly? I am not questioning anyone's intellectual credibility and why would I where did you get that from?

I do still have an issue. My Amazon reports are showing highly unrealistic data i.e. saying my clicks have more than doubled for some unknown reasons. I put this post up to find out what the problem is and to see if this is normal behaviour for the start of a new year in case of an update etc.

Now whether you like it or not. My order report says 800 odd clicks and my link type report says half that so there is clearly a problem with the system. I want to know what the problem is and if anyone else has encountered this.
