Of course... I'm the administrator. But I can tell you that I don't ever look (again, I have better things to do) unless someone reports a blatant rep abuser and I need to investigate it.

If I leave negative rep, I know the user won't know who left it. Don't you think that should be the same for you?

Then again, maybe its for the best.

On my rugby forum, if you make public the contents of a PM it is an instant suspension of account. Possibly (depending on past history) a complete ban. Abuse of privacy is something i feel very stronly about. I have had threats from bozos demanding the email and contact address of another member as they want to take legal action for the comments. My reply is always the same. Here is my address, get a court order for the release and I will gladly give them to your legal representative.

I have yet to give any info up ;)

No, the administrator must be able to see EVERYTHING on the forum in order to keep it runing well

Everything apart from the private messages between members that is . (although of course if you have access to the database then technically you have that anyhow).

btw.. that's a good question, I think it's impossible to see passwords and PMs for an admin in vB, right?

you can't see passwords, they're encrypted with salt, which is why if you want to get your password for you - you have to get the system to generate a new one - unlike phpbb

Which is very good considering that many of us use the same pass on many sites/forums. I don't know why phpbb is not hiding it. Forum owners could cause some serious damage to some of their members' online ventures if they wanted.

Awhile back I re-used one of my moderate-security passwords to register on a site whose owner turned out to be a sociopath. He started posting really weird, unpleasant stuff (new rules, nicknames for other users, etc.) on the site for all to see. I was seriously concerned that he had all the info he needed (if he could read the password I had submitted) to log into my account on some other sites.

I was really sweating it, but evidently he could not decypher the password because nothing bad has happened. I also changed my password on the most important sites.

An alternative explanation would be that he started taking his medicines again.
