Notepad2 a free download has syntax highlighting which makes it a lot easier to use. That is about all I use.

I usually use it when I want to modify some code and don't want to open it via Dream Weaver.

i haven't in about 5 or 6 years... but i guess that's what i would use if i didn't have dreamweaver or anything. it's a real bitch to code stuff when nothing is color-coded.

Use Notepad++. I used to use Notepad but PHP files need to be saved in UTF-8, this is where Notepad++ comes in handy. It is also better for indenting and syntax highlighting.

Not pad is great if you want to find a specific line of text using the find and replace command.

I only use Notepad for simple editing. For serious coding, I prefer to do it using Dreamweaver.

Notepad++ is a great editor in my opinion. Another one is 'Textpad' There are also some very good php editors that are good for html work as well

Pfft, never in a million years. For coding, it's PHP Designer 2007, with Wordpad as an alternative. I only occasionally use notepad for, say, copying something off a website then pasting on notepad then copying from there again to remove formatting.
