Hey guyz I want to write a meta description for my home page but I dont know how to do that...I tried searching online too but was unable to understand. Can somebody please tell me how to write the meta description? Thanks in advance Nikhil
Look at the source code of other sites with high rankings in your niche to get an idea. They must be doing something right.
Right a proper sentence about what the page content is about. Ideally, you should have a unique meta description for each page. Its often the summary result information in google results so it can act as a hook if it matches the searchers interest so use it wisely. Cheers, Steve

Do not use auto generating tools, how can they possibly be as good as you writing a unique and relevant description of your website pages?! Write it yourself, its only 1 sentence, it is the best way. You only need to create Title and Description tags.
What I provided him ONLY helps him create the code and not the actual content... I have personally never seen one that generates the content for you, and I highly recommend not using one. You need to create a title, description, keywords and if possible robots. If you don't, don't be fooled when your only sitting on page 3 and not moving. Exactly this what I understood from your post and went to google and typed meta tag generator and clicked on the first site in the results and then entered the keywords and the description of my site - then it genrated the HTML code to insert on to my site........Thanks for the info,I was actually having tought time creating the meta descriton bcoz of my lack of knowledge in HTML but got it now.
