Hello, I run into a problem. Seems like I spend more money on marketing than I'm selling. Does anybody have any suggestions? I sell stained glass and my website is www.stainedglassmall.com
    Thanks everybody

Adwords is effective. But you have to use it effectively. It's like if you try to use a hammer to cut wood. It might work but not very effectively and the results won't be pretty.

Most people don't take the time to learn to use Adwords and other PPC services. Can't say I blame them, there is a lot there and it is intimidating. Most advertisers also think too broadly. For example, in your case, if you were to bid on the keyword "glass".

The other side of the coin is converting your visitors. Don't blame Adwords if you bid on a keyword but selling something totally different, landing on a generic page and making them search again or not doing a good selling job.

As mentioned in a previous post watch your google analytics carefully for your adwords campaign, you may find that some keywords have a high bounce rate which is simply a WASTE of money. Look at the keywords that are actually keeping people on your site and potentially looking to buy and increase and put your hard earnt cash into those areas.

I don't think you can blame adwords if one is not selling that well .If you are getting enough hits but are not able to convert then things need to be taken care of within the site .

Not always, i think keywords within adwords are very important and for each keyword you try you need to monitor analytics to see if they are converting. You could have the best content in the world for your sector, but if the keyword is wrong then its simply a waste of money bringing visitors to the site.

We have a site offering Free UK Phone Numbers, if we use the keyword "free number" we get lots of clicks but the bounce rate is up around 95% so although the keyword is matching our sector its totally pointless and a waste of money (hence removed).

So my point is simply watch your google anayltics carefully to see what keywords are working for you and what keywords are not, also setup multiple ad's in the same AD GROUP so goolgle can select the best one for you based on your keyword, for example, if you were selling everything to do with motorbikes you could have:

    Ad #1

    Brand New Motorbikes
    Won't be beaten on price

    > landing page (motorbike sales page)

    Ad #2

    Cheapest Motorbike Parts
    Available for nextday delivery

    > landing page (Motorbike Parts)

    and so on....

This will also improve your Q/S and give you a better CTR.
