Does any PC match the iMac's spotlight search capabilities?

In my previous job I had an iMac and I could search a 100 page pdf document for a certain name or word.
In my current job I am using a Dell. When I hit "Edit" then "Search" it cannot find terms that I see on the document.

Does anyone other than Apple have the Spotlight search capabilites?
    It is a real time-saver.

From what I've gathered, don't bet on it. Mac OS has PDF integration built into its very lowest levels. You just cannot get the same sort of functionality on a different OS.

Not that many people are that devoted to using PDF's. It's a niche market that Apple decided to grab and everyone else has pretty much ignored.

At least, that's the impression I've gained during the [very] limited research I've done. YMMV
