Does any have trouble keeping their forums populated and active...any advice on how to keep the forum populated and active? Does it just take time for our site to get spidered and get Organic search traffic? Any advice is appreciated! -C
Its a constant work really. Along with SEO you should look at other marketing options. Participating on related forums is a good option to consider.
You can't rely on SEO for being the main source of traffic. As webcosmo said. try being active on similar forums, get a good reputation going, and do some post exchanges.
Been there, done that. It doesn't help. Good reputation will just get registrations no posting. I hear most people use Sock Accounts.
Invite people from other forums where you hang around to join at your new forum, do it to those with whom you've exchanged posts in the past or you'll be considered spam. If the forum is yours, you should also be present at the very least. Participate in your own forum as actively as possible but leave enough room for other members also talk between each others. There are many more things that you can do, these two advices are just something to keep in mind. Good luck.
I disagree. I find Search Engine traffic to be the most reliable and steady. Do you think Shawn wastes his time posting on other forums hoping to attract a few members? I've seen month over month 5-10% growth in my SE traffic. Also once you have a strong community then members often help promote you. To OP if you're having a tough time with having your forum active start by working with the community itself and try to see why they are less active. I am sure there are things you can do internally to bring up activity. I consider that the first place to start. If you're going elsewhere then so are your members.
Hi) you've asked if it takes for yours site to get spidere, and the answer is YES, it takes time so you have to wait a little, and while you wait try to raise traffic through other forums: one of the good methods of bringing in traffic is trading links with other forums that.
