Just create a sitemap with your index page in it. Google will take care of the rest. It will scan your site whether you have a sitemap or don't.
Hi, No its will never harm your website if you doesn't have site-map over your website.but remember one thing having site map on your website is also a plus point from search engine and as well as users point of view. Thanks Steve mcmohn
Having a sitemap is not critical in getting ranked on a search engine - plenty of websites rank well without a sitemap. But it helps.
It is not necessary to create and submit sitemap for your website but if you create and submit then it will be beneficial for your website to index more webpages quickly in search engine...
Actually in sitemap, we add all live links of our site that we want to be indexed in Search Engine. So its so important to create for better understand to search engine. If we will not create sitemap then search engine will not know our all links. After created sitemap add this in robots.txt file and then upload this file. This is the right way. And yes create sitemap carefully. I am saying this because i have been a big mistake that is we added wrong sitemap in robots.txt file due to which our traffic is going on other site. So be careful.
Agreed, and plus if you make a google webmaster tools account, there you may submit your website sitemap, therefore faster indexing. And this helps you with visitors. I advise you to create a sitemap.
Creating a sitemap requires very less time and it is a good practice to have a sitemap on your website. It helps search engines to know about your site. It gives the complete overview of the site.
