I know that the value of a site if I want to flip a site is affected by Alexa ranking which would be affected by traffic ranking. I have considered purchasing traffic to my sites that would probably not result in any sales, but would increase my Alexa ranking. I have noticed in the past that for a period of time after my traffic numbers increased due to my working on my webpage, overall traffic showed a small bump. I think it could be from more spiders coming to my site, but I haven't pinpointed the residual traffic boost yet. My question is would my SERP rankings be helped if I bought random traffic to my site? Thank you.
#1 - Don't use Alexa - Ever. And directly, no, traffic does not equal better rankings. However, if your traffic is valuable and they link to your site then yes, traffic can indirectly get you better rankings.
thank you nusuni. I don't generally use Alexa, but I was offering that as an example. I won't bother concerning myself with artificial traffic then. Thanks.
As many others said, traffict has nothing to do with your website in the SERPs. And i would strongly advice you to think twice before purchasing traffic (read more: worst paid traffic). If you want to improve your site on the SERPs you should concentrate and work more on unique content and build backlinks to your pages with anchor text.
Junk traffic won't affect your search ranking. One scenario that traffic might affect your ranking is if you buy quality traffic (e.g. through Adwords) and your site has content useful enough to cause other people to link to you on their own. Good luck.
