Recently I have had talks with a Amazon Payments rep trying to sell me on their "Checkout by Amazon" service. Do you think that a site needs that if Paypal is already in place? I mean I know the big A is pretty trusted brand but do you think that implementing this will mean higher conversions? Has anyone out there had experience with Amazon payments? Yay, or Nay? I know they have some aggressive processing intro offers so we have been thinking about going with them, though would like to hear some feedback. Thanks!
There are far more people using Paypal than Amazon payments. It might make a good alternative payment method like google checkout. Realistically, I think the 2 payment methods that every site must have are paypal, and using some method of non-paypal direct credit card payment. Google checkout and Amazon can increase sales for some people, but there's still not enough usage to challenge Paypal for an alternative payment method. Here's an article I wrote relating to this a few months ago: http://www.merchantequip.com/merchant-account-blog/1143/paypal-has-nothing-to-worry-about
