Has anyone had any success or think its possible to have success by promoting a product on amazon that has your ref code through adwords? I have noticed that you can easily buy $50 pre-activated adwords accounts for $5. Wouldn't applying this to Adwords + Amazon instantly 10x your earnings? It seems like a really good idea to me, but I can't find anyone else talking about it. I created a couple campaigns so far, but no clicks yet.
Yes I believe this is possible, go for higher priced items and make sure your keywords are targetted. e.g. Use a model number or something specific to that item. I have seen a few people doing this (linking straight to amazon pages from adwords).
I've actually done it before. It does in fact work, but it's pretty tedious work. First you'll want to find high priced items that aren't already saturated with Adwords competitors, that are in stock, and that are inexpensive to advertise for. That's the first challenge. I would recommend going with the products in housewares as they give some of the best commissions. Be sure to do several products at a time too for an effective experiment. Again, you'll probably make a few bucks from this, but I think a much better experiment would be to list amazon items on ebay, with the minimum sale price being Amazon price plus shipping. If you sell for anything higher then what amazon does, then that's your markup. Order the amazon item and have it shipped directly to the winning bid. Please do come back and post the results of your experiment with us. thanks, PuReWebDev
PureWebDev, you're really helpful and I'll probably try to pm you soon if you don't mind, but I totally have to disagree with you on putting Amazon items on Ebay. Primarily, you're not factoring in EBay's opening and closing fees. For most items you're really not making enough to be worth your time. Before I use Ebay for anything, I check Amazon first. I don't recall off the top of my head when I saw an item listed so cheap it was worth me buying and then reselling on Ebay.
I have been wanting to do the amazon affiliate program for a while now, was wondering if it is worth the effort...
Yes, it works, but don't choose just US, go to markets as Germany and UK , the bestselling products are Electronics.. always choose the price from $500 aprox for adwords and targeted keywords for that product.
I tried it for skateboards, and I blew through $50 on adwords in 4 days. 1 sale came of it, but wasn't worth the price tag.
Boy this thread is pretty old, will add anyway. I put amazon links on eBay using classfied adverts, its free, it does work. I make around £10 per month from around 100 listings, so if you post around 1000/2000 you could make something...
I wonder if the thread starter will read this. This started way back 2008. But thanks for your post, dmtaylor247. Learned something new.
Also remember that to avoid the old Google Slap you need to make sure your web site has a lot of quality content, especially on the landing page.
The Amazon affiliate ban isn't just on Adwords, it's ANY Search related advertising. Even though you're doing it on eBay, it still falls under the Search rules, which state: * any Product purchased by a customer who is referred to the Amazon Site through any of the following: o a Prohibited Paid Search Placement; or o a link to the Amazon Site, including a Redirecting Link, that is generated or displayed on a Search Engine in response to a general Internet search query or keyword (i.e., in natural, free, organic, or unpaid search results), whether those links appear through your submission of data to that site or otherwise. “Prohibited Paid Search Placement†means an advertisement that you purchased through bidding on keywords, search terms, or other identifiers (including Proprietary Terms) or other participation in keyword auctions. “Proprietary Term†means keywords, search terms, or other identifiers that include the word “amazon,†“endless,†“Kindle,†or “Javari,†or any other trademark of Amazon or its affiliates, or variations or misspellings of any of those words (e.g., “ammazon,†“amaozn,†“endlss,†“enldess†“kindel,†and “javaryâ€). “Redirecting Link†means a link that sends users indirectly to the Amazon Site via an intermediate site or webpage and without requiring the user to click on a link or take some other affirmative action on that intermediate site or webpage. “Search Engine†means Google, Yahoo, Bing, or any other search engine, portal, sponsored advertising service, or other search or referral service, or any site that participates in any of their respective networks. Eventually they'll catch you dmtaylor247, probably right after a big spike in your earnings during the holidays. Be careful you don't spend too much on advertising. You need to have an intermediate page where users land first, then click.
My AOM website hxxp://www.nasbookstore.com has been long pending preview and no sign will be approved
I registered with adwords and used the free £30 that Google offers everyone. I was already an Amazon associate member. I have kept my max bid as 25 pence and have targeted laptops and cameras. On the forst day it self I got 120, 000 impressions and 75 clicks and around £16 were spent. The amazon astore is on my www.trips2london.com website. You can see the shop link as the 2nd item on the vertical menu on the left. I couldnt check if any items were sold as I think Amazon takes 24 hours to show the stats. But I hope this adwords tick has worked. I will get to know if any items were sold or not.
can i get some calrification? we have a load of people saying it is illegal and loads saying it works? whats the answer? i'm from the UK and i link my adwords directly to amazon and have just started making a little profit,
