What's up everyone i saw alexa is not completely true but if we put there site widgets does it give correct traffic details? if you have/had experience then only share your experience no imaginary or fake comments on the threads please. Thanks
A lot of people says that when you have that alexa toolbar then you would be counted... But if the visitor does not have the Alexa toolbar then its useless... I dont know how true it is,
I don't think putting that ugly old widget on your site does any bit of good, otherwise you would see it more often. I've read about a few people messing with it, but really hard to tell accurate results because who's to say they didn't happen to get a few more visitors with the tool bar. Only thing I have ever tested is the toolbar. It seems like it counts you per 24 hour time period from your 1 ip. Also I think that it counts each different page you visit as something like 1 point. So if you visit 10 different pages on your site in 24 hours then like 10 points. But if you visit 1 page like your homepage 10 times, since it's the same page then only 1 point. I can't say for sure, as I only messed with it for a few days, I can't visit all my pages everyday to see if it really makes a difference, or if some others with the toolbar just happened to visit more during testing. And honestly I don't really care too much about alexa rank it's just not accurate enough for me.
My question would be are the Alexa rankings of any value? in my opinion the answer is no, as it only records hits by visitors that use the Alexa tool bar. I did an experiment a couple of years ago and using autosurf sites, which we all know are useless for getting serious visitors, I put a site up to 75.000 on Alexa. Naturally it did not help in getting signups so draw your own conclusions but mine are that you can fiddle alexa rankings very easily if you really want to.
