again.. there are many many factors search engines use to rank sites... seniority is one of them.. so your statement is true...

Age - Domain, content and dates in content.

activity is also a plus, the more dynamic content you have across 10 years the more likely google will love you.

yeah. I agree with webbmaster, seniority is one of the factors which affect the ranking in Search Engine. So, it sounds reasonable in a way.

Yes, others have said it right. Also, one thing to keep in mind is that I believe most people to assume that Yahoo puts more weight on this than Google does.

sure does help. However, it kind of pisses me off that I have a new site that is significantly better than other sites that people no longer update and I still rank below them! The first thing you should do is buy a domain and get it indexed in google. Even before you have significant content.

Aging is one of the thing the search engines look at when they are ranking a site so it will defenitely work. But when you have an old site and you did nothing with it, you will not be high in the search engines.

It really does. Google considers the age of the site as one of the factors in determining your site's authoritativeness.

Does it matter only the age or should the site be also active? I mean you buy the name but no hosting and after 2 years you use it. Does the age still count?
