i get these letters in the mail from host gator says $100 free in adwords. is that a scam or real? i tried reading on adwords but i still dont comprehend well. does it bring up your google ad with your description on other web pages?
It is possible to get the adwords vouchers by buying hosting etc but of course you should always watch out for scams. As for using the vouchers.. you just set up the ad(s) put on a price per click plus various other things and set it off. Your ad should appear on sites relating to your site (or random sites depending on cookies of the surfer) and if they click it costs you x amount, some goes to google the rest to the owner of the site and the surfer is directed to your site.
Adwords works really well. It takes time and testing to really bring the cost down. Lots of testing. For learning how to use adwords, check out Google's video section in help.
