Does Adwords Mess With Organic Search?

I sometimes wonder if I would get more organic results from Google if I didn't use Adwords.

Perhaps maybe I should wait longer? My site is only about two months old. I have heard it takes 4-6 months to establish and become fully indexed.

Using Google adwords in my experience has helped the organic results, indexing and pages showing up in the SERP's

You also want to create a sitemap and submit it through google webmaster tools

It has absolutely no effect on your organic ranking at all - neither good nor bad. This issue comes up on here again and again, and as many people swear having adwords has decreased their organic listings, as swear it increased them. They can't be both right - but they can both be wrong.

Google Adwords really help in organic result, but even without it you can still get the desired result.

All others here are little bit true. The traffic from the adwords or any other source can increase or decrease the bounce rate depending on the quality of the content. And little bit effects the ranking in organic search. I too agree with all with this reason.

I don't think Adwords has any affect on your Organic listings.

Traffic from AdWords is supposedly re-directed so that it has no effect on organic searches. Probably true, however, if alot of the people that find your site through Adwords find it useful, bookmark it, and return over and over without using Adwords on their subsequent visits, how can that not affect your organic search position in a positive way?

This may also explain why some AdWord users see no impact on organic and others do. If your site content is strong or AdWord visitors see your product as something they may need in the near future and bookmark, then AdWords should have a positive affect on your search position.

I could be wrong, but I look at a little like a retailer advertising a special price on an item or coupons. The whole point is to introduce new traffic to the store in hopes they become regular customers. If the store makes a poor impression or really doesn't have anything to offer when the customers come for the special priced item, then they will likely not return and vice versa.

It just makes me wonder because there is a benefit financially for Google to want me to use Adwords.

My thinking is that it was good when I first started my site, but now that I am getting some organic results I am going to lay off of it for a bit.

it depends on on many things:

competitive landscape - the more competitive it is, the more import ppc is (as well as enhancing your SEO CTR)
if you are talking about your own brand terms, then it depends if there are many others in your space, if not, the chances are PPC is taking value more than giving value, but if there are strong competitors in the ppc space above your SEO, then you could lose traffic to competitors if you don't show on PPC

brand strength - the weaker your brand, the more ppc can enhance SEO- especially ppc at a high position

quality of your SEO result - the less good your seo result, the more ppc can so for you

position of you ppc ad - top position often provides a halo efect, whereas aligning you ad at the same level as your seo result can also provide a little boost to SEO CTR

All in all, it can vary greatly from advertiser to advertiser and keyword to keyword.... the trickis to just do more tseting and more testing

I hadn't thought about brand strength, that is a good point.

My thought would be for most here then at least a bit of SEO can be helpful.

    Thanks for the replies!

IMO it has no relation whatsoever and if you think about it, it wouldn't make any sense.

If you don't use Google Analytics then I don't see how they would know your bounce rate. Visitors could quite easily go to your website and then venture off to a bookmarked website and not return to Google for days... Google therefore have no clue whether they 'bounced' or stayed, looking at your website for days.

I've certainly seen nothing to suggest that Adwords and Organic are related in anyway.

I was told this from a Google representative also that they do not impact each other in any way at all. PageRank also has no impact on quality score which I have also noticed is bought up now and then.
