No. Adwords does not affect your ranking. It is separate from SEO.

Adwords is just for pure advertising and getting non-organic results. It will not increase organic web traffic or ranking. Once you stop using adwords those non-organic ads go away.

Rankings - no, AdWords doesn't influence organic rankings. However, you can try and make your ads appear on the top Search/GDN pages
Traffic - yes, paid traffic will increase, that's the reason you run AdWords ads, isn't it?

Of course your traffic will stop as soon as you stop the adwords campaign

Of course if nobody clicks your ads, you won't sell anything. Adwords and all other PPC services are self-serve. It's up to you to create ads that entice people to click. They won't just because you have ads showing, which seems to be the thinking of many. Just like having your organic listing at or near the top, doesn't mean people will click. Also doesn't mean they will buy. The other side of the coin is to convince the visitor you have a better deal than the next guy.

Don't get into Adwords to improve your SEO; it could end up being a costly endeavor. Use it as another avenue to increase sales/traffic/etc.
