Facebook marketing works, but you MUST separate the business from your personal stuff. Create a fan page....get traffic to it...and sell your products / services from that page.

I spent a lot of money on facebook ads and had literally no success (about $1 ROI on every $50 spent). I used it for dating niche which is considered best for facebook campaigns... well, I'd say better go with google adwords or banners elsewhere on related sites.

if there are large number of community member then advertising is really suitable...
