Does Adsense improve PR??

I have a fairly new domain name and created a basic 2 page site.

It has some pretty basic info on it regarding a different site in the hope of getting a few hits and of course creating a link.

I added Adsense to the 2 page site a few weeks ago and went on holiday. Come back and I find that the site is now PR4, previously PR0.

Is it possible that Google ranks sites higher if there is some Google marketing on it?

No, This is just googles April Fools, many new site got very high PR values. I had two practically undeveloped sites get a PR5 from a PR0. Neither had adsense.

It's possible but it's not the case. AdSense inclusion has no impact on anything related to the organic results, including PR.

Ad Sense does not improve PR - but it may alert the googlebot to your site sooner than if not -

so basically you are letting google know you are there. But ranking involves mulitple variables such as content, inbound links, etc., -

    hope this helps

IMO google will index your site a bit faster with adsense on it, but.. might just be in my head :)

The Adsense bot is the one that says "Media Partners Google", right?

but nobody knows how google rankings works. There are always suppositions about rankings in google. For google it is better that the sities with adsense code are higher than other so I think that could affect rankings in google.

From Google's FAQ: How does participation in this program affect my site's position in the Google search results?

Participating in Google AdSense does not affect your site's rank in Google search results and will not affect the search results we deliver. Google believes strongly in freedom of expression and therefore offers broad access to content across the web. Our search results are unbiased by our relationships with paying advertisers and publishers. We will continue to show search results according to our PageRank technology.

Adding the Google AdSense ad code or AdSense for search code to your site will not queue your pages for crawling by our main index bots. While our bot (starting with 'Mediapartners-Google') does crawl content pages for the purpose of targeting ads, this crawl is not associated with our main index crawl.

See, how can we say it's gonna affect rankings just because we installed a proprietory Google code?

Read the FAQs and you'll know the truth.

oficially it wouyld be almost illegal for adsense to improve PR, but since is very tight lipped about their technologies, it could.

Yup because it just won't work at all Antonio. No matter how long we keep it there.

What's the next crazy idea should I hear? Placing Google search box on web pages to improve PR? :D
