Does adsense help raise your rank?

A friend is so sure that by having Adsense on your site, google will put you above ppl that don't if all other variables are the same?

His logic is google would want you to be higher in organic search so they can make more money off of adsense.

    Is this true?

No one's going to be able to answer that unless they've tried. My suspicion is that it's just a myth - it makes an interesting talking point in the pub but that's about it.

Makes sense and I wouldn't be surprised if its true. This goes along with the ol' link back to Google = high SERP debate.

Very interesting point, I've never even thought of that. I think someone would have to do an experiment to test it out. But, even testing something like that would be hard to do.

I don't think its true for one bit......In fact, they made a statement the other day about cracking down on sites that have very little content and a lot of ads....

It's not true. Also, if you search through the forum, you'll see many posts on this subject.

adding adsense to your site, buying ads from google or linking to google will not effect your google search

That's what I thought, but it does kind of make sense for them to do it though, but we'll never know;(

Yeah, it's one of those things that would make sense but can't be proven.

I wonder how many times all these questions have been asked over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....

That's because new people join adsense everyday and it happens over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

No , he said that if ALL THE OTHER THINGS ARE SAME and then he puts one or two adds.

I think there may be a point may be because of the ID he may rank higher
but i dont think anyone have tried that ?

No, Google are trying to devalue MFA sites so why would they allow Adsense to achieve them higher rankings.

Adsense is a bit of script, nothing more end of story.

    Hi,

I think because Google Adsense is a Java Script then it doesn't help you to increase your PR. There isn't any physically links on your web page. It is just a script and takes contact with Google Server and shows some Links with your keywords.

My knowledge is a little but I understand it this way.

To all the people saying that you think it would make sense for google to rank pages with adsense higher, because they would get more revenue.. I don't think that's true.

If google ranks shitty sites above quality sites simply because the shitty site has adsense, it's going to look like an irrelevant link to the surfer, and he may be more inclined to use another search engine, meaning more revenue lost for google in the long run.
