Hello all. I currently don't use AdSense for the fear of possible customers leaving my site for my competitors. I am alone?

Plenty of people don't use it for the same reason... however, adsense is fairly easy extra money if you can find a way to send visitors who weren't going to buy anyways over to them. It's all in how you use (or don't use) it :)

I think AdSense (or any ads that possibly send someone away from your site) are a real problem if you are selling a product or service. You work hard to get someone to your site. Is it worth a few cents to send them away?

AdSense is ideal for content-only sites. It is a way to pay for your time and energy spent creating the content. In a content-only site you lose nothing by letting someone move from your website to another.

You could use adsense, stay with an eye on ads and filter competition ads. But if u want your site to look professional i suggest not to use adsense.

I would say if you are selling products or services don't use adsense. Or only use it on pages where your not pushing for sales.

Both. It helps by providing revenue but hurts it by annoying visitors and taking them to sponsored (irrelevant to their needs) sites a lot of the time.

I suggest not to use adsense to sites that sell products/ services :) It's only advisable to blogs/ sites that are updated regularly with latest news and events.

Hurt ? Why you think so that ? Adsense is just a program to help you make money. You can control it by your hand

Depends if you have too many ads or not. Tons of ads will make people mad

When you know the knack in using the adsense ads, you will be rewarded better. Only losers complain.

If you are earning well from the sales of your product, I don't see any reason why you need to use adsense and taking the risk to lose potential customers and sales to your competitor.
In this case, you should be using adwords instead.

Thanks for all your comments. Most of you suggested staying away from Adsense and had the same concerns as me. However; it sound like if you know who to use Adsense correctly it might be a good way to make a few bucks.

Does anyone have commercial site that uses Adsense? If so how have you managed it?

Adsense will hurt you if you put adsense code in your shopping or store related websites.

That seems to be the common theme. What type of pages work best for Adsense?

Using adsense won't hurt your site if the ads are placed properly and are not distracting to the reader. Make sure that the ads blend in neatly with the site and does not irritate the reader. If your website is about selling other products and services then you are probably better off without adsense as it may hinder your sales defeating the primary purpose of your website.

If your site is newer, it does hurt seo a bit. But that doesn't apply to order sites.
