Hi everyone! I'm not new to the forum (I've been reading for quite some time), but this marks my first post. Anyways, I've had an AdSense account for years, but just now decided to get back into web design and get serious about it. However, before I invest time developing a new site and writing content I'd like to understand one thing about the program a bit better, it's memory! My Question Since my account has been dormant for so long (two or three years?), my CTR is very, very poor. Now I'm not sure if I would be better off creating a new AdSense account after I'm finished developing the site or if I should keep my existing one. Does AdSense have a good long-term "memory?" Will it hold a grudge against me or will it forgive and forget my past as I start picking up clicks? Thanks for reading! ~sephxml
Your question is so silly, it's actually kinda cute. Your account doesn't have a memory, no. If you pick up your work, the new result won't be any different than if you had a new Adsense account. The money you will earn will still depend on how much advertisers are currently paying per click, your CTR will depend on your ad placement and both will depend on the amount and quality of your traffic. I would suggest you stick with the old account, for the simple reason that it's established for a long time, and you are less likely to run into troubles when you suddenly see a burst in clicks again (a new account may raise flags at 'G').
First of all you are not allowed to have more than one adsense account at a time. Having this may ban both of your account. Go ahead with old account. If you go seriously with it, the CTR will come up.
Thanks for your help! I just wanted to confirm that my "all time" CTR will not have any influence on my future earnings.
