I recently read an article on how adsense would affect the self esteem of websites. The post is "How AdSense Lowers Site-Self-Esteem" Is it true ? Well, I do often find them annoying in some sites and "adsense blindness" is becoming wide spread. I donot earn a decent revenue from adsense. This is true. But, I can't think of any other alternative. Some of the bloggers who actually ditched adsense and still makes money is Yaro Starak and Brian Clarks. Is it possible to make decent revenue from In-House advertising ? If I don't get satisfactory revenue from adsense, will it help if I remove them ?
To your first question --- maybe. But advertisers won't even give you the light of day if you don't have a significant existing traffic flow. For your second question --- it certainly won't help your revenue. It also really won't affect how folks think of your site. If you're not making good money from AdSense, optimize your placement, and get more traffic - that would be a better solution.
Honestly, adsense earnings usually raise my self-esteem. I dont usually make a whole lot (in 2006 I made $75), so really any click (even those pesky $0.02 ones) gives me a smile.
I am not sure how it works now but I can give you my late 1990s experience. (pre-adsense era) I had a fishing website with 500 Uniques/Day. It was quite substantial. But for the life of me I couldnt find support from people who wanted to advertise. I hope this is different now because 500uniques/day isnt as easy to get as it used to be... so much competition
I think it does .... nowadays, you see ads everywhere. But, people need to make money, so i guess its just business
I would say for a small to average site, it does not matter. However, I would stay away from Adsense if I have a professional company site.
Well ads are ere to stay, whether you like it or not. It just like advertsing in a ny other media. People expect to make money from their sites renting out spce to advertisers just like a newspaper sells ad space.
If low earnings == low self esteem then I think you are in need of an attitude readjustment. My low earnings at the start motivated me to find ways to improve. It took nearly 3 years to finally make large chunk of money off AdSense. 2007 is a new year and I've already begun major reconstruction of my sites. My goal this year is to cut costs and improve sites.
Not sure about the sites, but adsense has risen My self-esteem. Earning with your ideas is great. Better than my "9 to 5 working" friends.
If you are making a site for an organisation or something < even webhosting > .. then it might affect the self-esteem but otherwise Its cool to make bucks online via adsense and by other ways
