    do you know what type of hosting or networking i can buy from hostgator and buy different ip's to surf the net with?i need to sign up for many different affilaite programs and each one has to have a different ip adress on it.

    You can purchase a small Windows VPS with multiple IPs, thats the best choice.

    You can configurate your vps with a vpn software or make a ssh tunnel to surf thru your vps

    You could install 'squid' but I think your original premise is flawed, and you're confusing VPS with VPN.

    Or you could buy the vps and set it up to redirect traffic in your actual browser through vpn/proxy settings.

    Keep in mind that it may be difficult to obtain enough IPs to do what you want. Hosts are becoming more and more rigid when it comes to requiring IANA justification for more IPs to be allocated.

    I think the original poster means VPN - which allows you to surf via a different IP. You could setup a VPN on a VPS if you wanted, however, it may be a little too resource intensive for the small / norm VPS packages out there.
