Does a "Press Release" qualify as an article?

I have a small handful of press releases that I would like to summit to a few directories.

Does a timely press release qualify as an article? It does have self promotion material in the release, as it is my company I am talking about...

Should I rewrite them into article format?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Many thanks!

It would be best to modify it and change it a bit. It is best not to have it sound like a sales pitch, but more like an actual informative article. People are more likely to actually read all the way through it and click the link at the bottom for reasons of convenience. Make sure that the link leads to a clean looking website, one that looks clean in all of the major browsers...

There are some article directories that also have a press release directory. You can submit to them. However, generally press releases are only stored online for a limited time (they are time limited information after all).

The best thing to do is to rewrite the press release enough that it meets the article format requirements and then to submit that.

thebitbotdotcom: I would agree with you, you may find some of your press releases may not get submitted due to the format and style of the writing, slight adjustments can easily resolve this problem though.

Not typically. However you can often rework pr and make them into articles that can be quite effective.

You can submit your PR to press release directory, but you can't submit them to EZA. Check this out.

It really depends on what's in your press release. A lot can be easily modified to be good article marketing material, but others can't. At Content Crooner we like to put the emphasis on solid, useful content. Press releases often have that, but if they read too much like an ad, they won't get accepted to directories. Plus, if the release is totally time sensitive, it isn't going to stay useful content long enough.

I would say to look at each of your releases and evaluate how much rewriting they would need to eliminate anything that might seem like blatant advertising or time-sensitive news style and make them into substantial article content. With a lot of them you will find that some rewriting will make them into very good article marketing material.
