Grammar doesn't rank you higher in SEO, but it helps the readers. Most visitors doesn't like to visits sites with a lot grammar errors.

Thanks guys for making this thread. I was thinking about this for quite some time now. The only thing that I don't understand is how Google detect whether the article is readable or not (let's say someone spin the article: English > French > English)? Will this one affect SEO?

It won't really hurt you SEO wise, but nobody will buy from you if your website is full of grammatical errors. A little slip up here or there is no big deal, we're all human. But if your article writers are using grammar similar to some of the Chinese spammers I've seen, you're wasting your money.

I don't think it will affect your rankings, but if anything it will affect the viewers on your site. Better grammar just makes your content/site look more legitimate

no i dont think that it may affect to your SERP's but it may surely affect to your traffic as if people will start finding some mistake to your article they may not find it reliable or authentic to read.

it does not mean that your grammar should be that perfect, it just that the words used are precise and in congruent with the structure of the sentence

No, i dont think so. The search engine doesnt give weight on the perfect grammar.
The perfect grammar only benefit you to get loyalty or returning visitor
