Does a non-commercial site get sandboxed?

I hear a lot of "commercial" site get sandboxed. I made a new site in a relatively competitive keyword topic. It is not a commercial site so if it gets sandboxed it doesn't hurt so much but is is still possible it does get sandboxed?
If it doesn't, what if I put an affiliate link or something? does this make it "commercial" and will run the risk of getting sandboxed? Thanks.

Could you provide me the reason why you think that way? I hear often that Snadbox usually happens with "competitive" keyword which is mostly "commercial" . That's why I wondered about it. Thanks.

sandbox has nothing to do with commercial or non comersial sites, its up to the status of a site like when the site was created and the content, links etc...

    Thanks a lot!

Though I hear a lot about "commercial sites" though...I'll look for the sites/pages which talk about this.

every site gets sand boxed for a competitive keyword by Google. the rarity of the key word determines the release of your site from sand box.

The fact your site is non-commercial (I hope you're still making some money out of it) doesn't mean you won't get in the sandbox.
Here is a quick tip how to avoid that: build just a few quality (from authority & trusted sites) backlinks BEFORE building crap links. That's it!
