Every little bit helps. If you can get all your most important keywords into your domain name, then by all means do so.

i did an experiment with one of my sites which has a dedicated ip

i accessed the site once with the ip and once with the domain name

Adsense ads with the domain name were relevant but with the ip they weren't at all

and i think that adsense bots follow the same scheme of search engine bots so the domain name is a primary key in SERPS
