Favicon does not affect any seo, it even takes delay for loading favicon.

I can tell that it is not related to seo. It is related to only bookmarks.

No a favicon doesn't effect anything with SEO. It will only effect the looks of a site to make it seem more professional.

First of all, let me ask WHY do you think that some type of icon can help you in SEO? Do you really believe that site becomes more reliable if it has some icon?

It would not have any effect on SEO, it will appear in the bookmark so to increase the branding of the site.

the only way i could think it could help seo wise is if the favicon file name is keyword related..... maybe it could help......other then that. no.

A favicon is not really directly a SEO factor as such >

Saying that though a favicon can benefit your site in regards to your branding and identity,

Where a favicon is most useful, imho, is when you have a page on your site bookmarked/added to favourites.

This helps an end user indentify your site in their list of sites that have been bookmarked/added to favourites when they are trawling through or browsing their bookmarks as you will stand out from those who have no favicon.

If you use the colour "Yellow" in a favicon it will also draw the eye towards your site in bookmark lists, saying that though Orange accompanied with blue as well as Yellow will also work well.

If you are usig a CMS like Joomla it is a good idea to use your own favicon otherwise the joomla standard favicon will be used by default and that may detract from your sites indentity and may cause confusion with bookmarked pages.

Would love to hear others experiences above and beyond this!

A favicon is not connected with seo efforts. It is just used for pretty bookmark and identification purposes in the browser address bar.

It sure hasnt helped my websites. A favicon in no way effects on page SEO imo. There are a ton more important things. Just look around as there are a great many pages that rank 1st page GOOGLE that dont even have a favicon.

Favicon are for viewers not SE, it reflects company logo and the look and feel of a web site.
