Hi there guys just a quick question, If Im making a playstation 3 site, and I want to rank well for the keywords 'playsation 3 site' If my domain name is playstation3site.com Will this give me a better ranking than a www.games.com domain with just keywords of 'playstation 3 site'???
Also do dashes in a domain i.e playstaion-3-site do they affect your seo ranking? Thanks Guys!

having your key word in your domain is never a bad thing. For example if my site was SonyGames.com and all things considered equal you would rank for playstation 3 site, before I did, because of your domain name alone. If I had more links and better content it would be possible for me to rank ahead of you but with out those no.

And lastly... google looks at "-" as spaces. So they aren't a bad thing for google. Harder for your users to remember but not bad for google.

If you're trying to rank high for the keywords 'playstation 3 site' it would be benificial to have the term 'playstation3' or 'playstation3site' in your domain.

Dashes will not affect your SEO ranking, but you will lose natural type-in traffic, because visitors will more likely type 'playstation3site' into their browsers before typing 'playstation-3-site'. Other than that, dashes have no effect...it's what you do with the domain that counts!

If you have terms in domain name it helps. Dash should not effect it in any way. If you buy domain name buy it for more than one year. They do look at if domain is only paid for one year so register domain name for a couple of years atleast.

my friend keywords on the domain are very important because if u have to sites SEO developed equally and one of them has the keywords in the domanin no doubt it will como out first.

Dashes are SEO friendly, that's how blogspot (google's blogging site) creates all it's html when you write a post... so keep it up and good luck!!

I would say that it is a very good idea to use your keyword in your domain. In my recent past both sites I have optimized with keywords in the domain made it to the top ten faster than usual. But make sure you get the best keywords. Do your research. I doubt that playstation 3 site is the best phrase. ie

yes it helps. If your name is frog.com and your site is about socks then is only hurts. No relevancy so I THINK the SE see it negatively.

Use keywords or the name of the business if you are trying to brand the total operation.

If domain name is related to your services then it is very beneficial and give search engine rankings by your targeted keywords.

    My friends
Don't give reply unless you have practicle experience

    Listen carefully what i tell
    1) It does not effect in seo ranking either you choose a long domain or short domain it only effects the visitors that it can be easily remember by all if a domain name is short ( and if it is long and meaning full then also it is memorable)

    2) second thing that depotgang said is completely wrong. you can select any domain name either related to you niche or not. Either related to your site or not, nothing is important.

    3) If you select domain playstation3site.com then it will come top on google serp only when a visitor type like this playstation3site not when a visitor type play station 3site or any other form.

    4) My dear there are examples i have seen that if the competition is high for any keyword foreg. playstation3 and your site name is playstation3.com then also you can able to get top in google serp.

So remember all the points and do that way
