Hi I am about to buy a 22inch wide screen tft monitor , to connect it with my hp laptop( compaq 6710b) . Would new monitor gona work fine , or i have to by some kind of graphic card first ?? also what for graphic card is meant for? thanks in advance.
I don't think you need a graphics card. I connected my 19" monitor to my friend's laptop without any problem so 22" monitor should also work fine.
What port does the monitor have? Is it VGA port? If yes, then your laptop should have a "VGA ouput" to be able to connect the monitor to your laptop. - Dynashox -
The monitor i am abt to buy have these specs.... Maximum Resolution 1680 x 1050 Recommended Resolution 1680 x 1050 for complete info http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009102 and my laptop specs http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-HP-Compaq-6710b-Notebook.4457.0.html my primary aim is to use it for browsing internet ............so in this case would display quality of websites gona suffer?? and how should i check which graphic card i have (if i had one inside my laptop) support 22inch monitor with Resolution of 1680 x 1050 ?
The monitor that you're about to purchase come with a VGA cable and your laptop have a VGA-Out port, so you can use the monitor with your laptop without any problem. The display resolution that you'll get is depend on the monitor that you use and not on the graphic card. - Dynashox -
Depends on what resolution you want it to run at, looking at your laptop it might have troubles using it at the max resolution.
Nope.. A dedicated GPU isn't needed. However, if you want to get high resolution crispy view, better buy a GPU with atleast 128MB RAM.
Buy a graphic card that handles high resolution. If you're gonna play games, look out for cards having 512 MB Video RAM like ATI of Nvidia.
NOPE... I have a 22inch LCD with No GPU installed.. You need a GPU if you wanna play high end resolution games..
yeah it depends on your graphics card try to see your graphics card maximum resolution before buying an lcd monitor.
You need graphic card to enhance the graphic quality, to watch High-Definition movies and to play high-end games. No need to buy Graphic Card but if you wanna make your PC like a HD-TV then bring one..
You don't need a graphics card for just every day use, but using high resolution or playing games want do you any good with onboard graphics
