    Hi
how do I protect a document from being copied? I just want to be able to make things read only. Is it possible?
I use Vista and Office 2007
    Cheers

Not really. In general, if someone can see it on their screen then they can copy it. They can always take a screenshot, which is pretty easy, or copy the document straight from RAM, which is a bit more tricky but still not very hard.

I believe there are some options you can set on Documents that will prevent people from copy-and-pasting from MS Word on a Windows system. This is not guaranteed to work in MS Word on a Mac and will probably not work at all of the document is opened with OOo.org on any platform. I have no idea what Google Docs does to these sorts of documents.

If you want to test them out, make a document with a page or two of writing or an image (but nothing important) in it and post it here. We'll see if we can copy-and-paste it back to you. :)

you could also make your text flash. it can`t be copy/paste. If someone wants the text he should write it himself. If u post a document on the internet you take the risk that someone will get it. Harder but still he will get it.
