Docklands Golf Logo Request

    Hi Guys

Its time for another contest. Im going to be tight. I could offer more but I simply cant afford to at the moment so the prize is $35.00

Im looking for a logo for Docklands Golf.

The Docklands is the financial district of London England. There are no courses in the Docklands but golfers in the area will be able to play at courses around the area.

I would like a Golf Ball back ground. Some how featuring the name Docklands Golf. It needs to look good not tacky. The guys Im trying to target drive Porsches and Ferraris. So it needs to be good. Corporate I think is the word I'm looking for.

In the middle of the golf ball I'm thinking of a silhouette skyline maybe of Canary Wharf. If you can imagine the golf ball coming up like the sun rise. Mostly out of the ground but with a slightly flat bottom. I dont want the golf ball taking up the whole background as I would like the circle of the ball showing.

I'm also open to other designs but this is currently what I have in mind.

The winner will also be featured on a future blog I'm going to set up. So could well get lots of exposure from that or not. Depends how good the blog becomes. We obviously will need to discuss this. Maybe you wont want to be on my blog.

    Thanks

    James

    Hi

The Docklands is the area around Canary Wharf London.

I like the one below, its how it will look in 2010. So at least if this skyline is used in the logo it will be current for a few years to come.

    Ariestoteles Hi,

It gives me great relief when the first entry comes out similar to what I had pictured in my head. Thank you.

I need to give you feedback in the morning if thats OK. Im at my full time job at the moment in the UK and its 18:57 I have a couple of other people involved with this so need to speak to them so the feedback can be accurate.

    Hope thats ok.

    I appreciate the effort.

    neilparnham

Your one has not come out so I cant comment yet sorry.

    Thanks

    James

    Hello Ariestoteles

I like the design and so far your winning. Well yours is the only design I can see.

I like the font and colour of the text. I also like the way the grey from the buildings is wrapped around the font. I would not have thought of that. It looks good. I personally didnt like the grass but put to a vote I lose and the grass must stay.

Some things I would like to see changed before I make a final decision please.

Near the middle of the golf ball is a white circle. I think this is supposed to be a reflection. Is there any way I can see the design with out this? Also as a variation I would like to see the golf ball slightly more to the left as the buildings dont look centre. I know the golf ball is aligned with the text so some how I would like to see a compromise. Do you get what I mean?

If you win I would like the logo in a format that I can easily resize etc. PSD I think.

Once again I really like the design. I took the liberty last night of trying it for size on a mock up of the final site design and it goes well. Will chat in another few hours. Although the site will show Im online Im at work and not supposed to be on the net.

    Cheers

    James

    Here is my entry

It's slightly different than your initial vision but I thought I would give it a few of my own ideas- I added water for both the bay in front of the skyline and also ponds that are usually on golf courses and also a golf hole to the left. Let me know what you think :)

    Hi guys

I have made a decision. The winner is jboo14

Please send me your paypal email.

    Review of the designs.

Ariestoteles I like this design and the different variations on the original. Its interesting that I prefere the original font. But the firends and family that I have all spoken to like the vegas style font.

Its a professional looking design. Its just that jboo14 got more thumbs up. If Im honest on my own I would still be deciding the winner.

neilparnham Thanks for the effort, I like the font and colours. I dont think the green infront of the skyline fits with what I was looking for. Nice gold ball though.

jboo14, congratulations. As I have said if it was me alone deciding I would still be thinking. Democracy enabled your design narrowly won. I like the idea of the hole for the ball and the water. If only the thames was that colour but it looks good. I will send payment and a pm once you have given me your details.

Thanks all. Keep up what you all obviously do very very well.
