I really want a domain, but it is registered, the domain has no content, and has been down for months.

It doesnt expire till next year, and the registrar wont give a contact email as the owner opted out of the WHOIS

Question is, how can i contact them? Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

You could try sending a letter to the host, and asking them to forward it over (although that might not work)...otherwise, there are domain negotiation services that would be able to get in touch with the person. There should be a link for it after doing a WHOIS.

The owner has not 'opted out of the WHOIS'. They have a private whois that should still show an email address. If you email to that email address it should bounce the email to their real address. A valid email address that can accept emails is still an ICANN requirement even on private WHOIS
