The robot tag is to tell the search engine to come on into your site and index the pages. You can also block the robot by saying not to follow the links and dont index.
ok, maybe all thats not important, i also don't think INDEX, Follow is important either i never used it and my site get found by search engines, as long as thiers a link pointing to it from a already spidered site.
Yeah the engines should still follow and index if you dont have the tag, I just prefer to have it there anyway.
A quick read of the webmaster guide will show that using the robots tag is for exclusionary purposes only. :/
I think at a least these should be included: <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <meta name="description" content="Your Description Here"> <meta name="keywords" content=""Your KW's Here">
this is enough: <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <meta name="description" content="Welcome to the precharge projectnet <meta name="robots" content="INDEX,FOLLOW"> or robots.txt <meta name="keywords" content=""Your KW's Here"> is 1999
No, the robots tag is wrong. It's implemented incorrectly. But I'm not going to beat a dead horse. Do the research. :/
sorry, forget about the <meta name="robots" content="INDEX,FOLLOW"> use robots.txt instead: User-agent: * Disallow:
I am the one he is talking about and yes I think you need all of those. Think on it not all search engiens are like google. Some like it when you make their job easier by telling them what to do. The defaults like index follow are there in case you don't have them. But if you do it's easier and faster on your behalf. Thank You
OK, show us some examples of successful SEOs and or Successful sites that agree and I might reconsider. However, regarding the index follow, you are still wrong from all the research I have done.
<meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> That's what I use. UTF-8 instead of Windows-, or ISO-
The search engines are always changing their policies. It's not worth constantly taking the tags out and then putting them back in. There is no harm in using them so just go ahead and use them. It could help the next time they decide to change things around. Think about it logically from their point of view and then decide which ones you think should be used. As for the keyword tags, try leaving them off a page with Goole ads. The pages with the tag generate targeted ads within a matter of seconds. The ones without sometimes take hours. Somebody is using that tag even if the engines don't admit to it. As to how much benefit it has to SEO is debatable but things could change any day so why not put it on if it won't hurt?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................. I certainly do not know what benefits these have except consuming some bandwidth. I do not use them.... I only use these on my sites I certainly would like to know how useful the others are???????
