Do your unique visitor count drops on Sundays?

I always thought that Sundays will be the best day for traffic as lot of users will surf internet and visit their favorite sites on that relaxing weekend "SUNDAY" . But what happening with my site is just opposite. I saw a sudden drip of traffic on Sundays only. I loss about 400 to 500 UV on Sundays. Traffic again starts to rise from next day Monday. As per my experience of 1 year of running a site the best days for traffic are Wednesdays and Saturdays.. Although the whole week traffic remains nearly constant , but on Sundays traffic drops like hell.

Do you also experience the same thing?.. Low Traffic Sundays.

A lot of people are likely to surf from work and it's less likely they are at work than on Saturday.

Wow! Thanks for bringing that up because I looked it up in my analytics and on my blogs the day I receive the lowest amount of traffic is Sunday.

And it doesn't go down just a little bit, it goes down by a large percentage. That's actually quite interesting.

I don't surf the web at work, I'd feel bad, but I have friends that do. That's really interesting because when I had my own eBay store, we made almost 50% of our sales on Sunday.

I think it really depends on the niche of your site.

Many people do browsing during work and school etc....
On Sundays we have Family get together and that's why we don't use the PC much.

If you have a family portal, or a game site, it would get more visits on Sundays.

Yeah, aside from the type of site you have, it's also dependant on the timezone and culture of your average visitor. Some may be more ore less likely to visit on a given day.

It depends on the niche. My website is in the Religious niche. It is visited by hundreds of pastors and Sunday school teachers looking for bible studies and sermons. Therefore, traffic stats are predictable:

    • Saturday is my highest day. Pastors and other bible teachers are looking for resources to help them on that Sunday morning.

    • Sunday is my lowest day. Church services are over, and people are taking a rest from sermon and bible lesson preparation.

The niche is all-important in evaluating your day-to-day stats.

It does depends on the content of your site. It could be argued that more people are off work/school on the weekend and Sunday so there are potentially more people to visit your site, but unless your site is leisure/entertainment based you may see a drop as people are looking to relax/be entertained on their weekends off.

My niche is web development / programming and so the main users are college students and working profs and so I see a drop every weekend.
