Press releases are a bit different than any marketing techniques, however they do generate traffic and contribute to a successful marketing campaign. They are a specific format of document to notify news / media outlets including (but not limited to) websites. Submitting a press release in turn generates traffic, as your press release will be posted in many places on the Internet which generally speaking, will receive high volumes of traffic, as well as being referenced to from other websites that feature their own mini news feeds or other similar things. Yes, they are effective, if written and submitted properly, which is as a news bulletin of information.

Press releases in my mind are just okay but I like article marketing better. Press releases do have some traffic potential but overall they are just okay. Article Marketing is more viral and more profitable for any niche. Also you can do a lot more with article marketing then press releases such as creating ebooks or starting e-courses. If you have any questions about article marketing please PM me.

With article marketing... I just wrote an article which I feel is very keyword rich and might rise up in google which I submitted to ezine. Am I hirting my chances by submitting it to a few other big article sites as well? Should I just stick to ezine for that one article? Maybe mass submit an article that I didn't spend as much time on?

I don't think you are hurting your chances by submitting your article to more article sites. You should try to distribute your articles as much as you can. This will make your article more available to publishers and you will get more backlinks to your website. I don't think you have anything to worry about. please pm if you have questions.

I've found that it doesn't hurt at all. Actually, though, submitting to the top 3-5 sites seems to work just as well as blasting to 100's.

    Just my 2 cents.

There are many techniques involved in writing successful press releases. Many free resources and tutorials can be found on the Internet. I'm not at my computer so I don't have my bookmarks and whatnot, and I can't think of anything to send you to, except perhaps prweb.com, I'm pretty sure they have some free articles on writing press releases. Just search the net for "how to write a press release" and I'm sure you'll find thousands of articles and tips. Search the forums here too, there's lots to be read. Many smart people here. ;)

Press releases are good for when you are launching something like a new website or blog or membership site. I would especially advice anyone to use them when launching an affiliate program.

Promoting a web site consists of more than just a great optimization job, and submitting to well trafficked search engines. You have to do a little bit more work in the promotion department, if you want a successful site and boost your sales turnover if you're an eCommerce site.

When you outsource press releases to a good copy writer, it is golden. At least in my experience. But I know press releases help quite a bit when you need a surge of traffic.

I haven't received particular success with Press Releases but the result varies from people to people. I would just invest my time in another marketing technique.

Yes, sometimes. I submit press releases when the sites I'm handling have released new products, promos and services. PR is a good way to inform the public about the latest news about the company and promote new stuff.

Articles, blogs and press releases are the best tools available for increasing links. PR can really bring high quality links if you use it appropriately. Whenever you make a change to your products or services, you can make a pr of it and submit it. It will really generate good traffic.
