I started developing a script to help me weed out spam on my newly purchased 2.2 phpld. I'm wondering, if it is worth making it shiny and developing it enough for other people to use. Right now it speed up the process by about 70- 80%. I scrubbed about 1700 submission in 18 minutes. It flags banned words and I might add banned tld (I.E. .ro). I'm thinking it would be nice to just set the good links to "active" and then run the link checker once or twice a week (not every time I update the status). The process is still manual but quicker. Good mod, a similar paid mod already exists for phpld 3.x. Im sure many would be interested in it though
That's a good one. Apart from flagging bad words, you can also count number of commas (,) if you have more than 5-6 commas, you likely have a description with keyword spam I would rather use this mod to check and remove 'bad' submissions faster before I get down to actual editing where I have to visit the site to confirm it can be accepted.
Hey Jitendraag, Great idea, I will give you the option of setting the number of commas before a flag is set. Second, would rather remove, than flag. OK, that can be an option. I like to be liberal, so flags are good. Mainly, because I a newbie to directories. Old timers, know what they want and 'just delete the dam thing' is a better option. Thanks, as a prize you will get a copy of my script, what ever form it takes. LincolnAve
At the PHPLD site the zip file download to version 2.2 is on the left under "Free Version". If you click the "Download" tab up top, you get version 3.x.
