I'm about to start doing a link exchange "campaign" if you will, and was wondering if I should put other's links just on one single page (example.com/links.php) or if I should do site-wide links (like put all my "partners" in the left navigation). How would you handle it? The site has a few hundred pages of just solid content.
Are you doing this to get incoming links or to make money by selling the links? If you have a few hundred pages of solid content and the content is unique to your site, then I would recommend a resources page for linking to on-target sites. I would also recommend possibly selling links throughout the site (but not via a site-wide) and only make those links available to sites that are similar in theme. Now, if your content isn't unique ... well, IMHO that's a whole different ballgame and I wouldn't be quite so worried worried about treating her like a princess ... her virginity's already gone so screwing with her a bit more probably isn't going to hurt.
Well, I would recommend you to mostly do links page exchanges and to limit sitewide exchanges to some big and quality related sites that could bring traffic (as this is the main and probably only advantage sitewide links have).
I do sitewide link exchanges with about 4 websites. It takes a really good exchange and worth while site to do a sitewide now for me. I do many single page textlink exchanges for my toplevel domain, but normally it's a lot ask for a sitewide from me. With 30,000+ pages indexed and most of the internal pages are PR4/5/6, that's a pretty big weight. I also take into consideration the category of the site. I do not want to be linking to a site that isn't even remotely related to my site because the link will weigh in a lot less, even if the PR is high, simply because it's not related. Google does this in order to keep from people paying for high ranked sites just to gain PR benefits. Content related sites are a big plus in my opinion.
Stick with Related Link Exhange and avoid site wide links if you are new to this. what I look for when Link Exhanging.. 1. make sure the link pages or general website is cache or cachable by the Big three Search engine 2. I try to avoid Directories except if it's one way link 3. pay only for link text if you know the site brings lot's of traffic or it's a waste of dineros.. 4. make sure you have a program to check if some of those link partners are still linking back to you - if it's two way exchange ( yup a few partners will cheat you on you) 5. I try to avoid web with frames - some are ok kthor
