I have vista 64 business on a brand new core duo quad extreme with 4GB ram. I cant complain about speed, but I suppose everything would run fast on this monster...
Vista is quite nice. I've been using it since November and haven't had any problems yet with my laptop. Just a few tweaks with my old games and I"m happy. (I wish new graphic cards had 8 bit shading still supported) Oh well I'll survive with missing pictures in FF8
People hate vista because they are to connected with Xp, they hate vista because its different than xp.
have been using vista now since july '07. Seems to be very stable for me, and I do a lot of video editing using a lot of ram. Don't think I'll use XP again.
Vista is just a prettier version of XP to me and with many software not compatible with vista,i have to use XP.
I use Windows Vista and it isn't noticeably slower than XP was to be honest. There are very few bugs (but some compatibility issues with games), contrary to what people say and it is an all-around good operating system.
Im currently running vista ultimate 64 bit edition on my pc because Im required to for it to register all 4gb of my RAM. I have enjoyed the experience for the most part, but it feels like the 64 bit edition is a second thought when updates come out. Gaming wise, DX10 is still a baby, and most games dont even support it, and the ones that do will require you to have a beefed up graphics card for you to be able to even run it on highest settings. XP is a great operating system, but if you are a system builder and place 4gb or more of RAM in your pc, your almost required to get vista seeing as how XP is on the back end of the to-do list for microsoft.
I've been using Vista Ultimate from date of release and after initial (an frustrating) hardware problems, everything is has been running smooth. The hardware problems were a not all caused by Vista, initially I had a bad HD which was causing BSODs then the ram tested bad but was fixed in a bios update. Windows updates fixed everything else. The PC feels almost exactly the same as when I had XP on there (with half the ram, but it seems proportionate). Its also worthy to note that I am using the 64-bit edition of ultimate, which probably contributed to some of the problems I ran into before updates kicked in.
I haven't really worked or checked vista from top to bottom but as much as I've seen I don't prefer it because first of all it slows your pc and I can’t stand it and another thing is that it accepts only games that are produced especially for vista(and there are not so many)…
I use XP and will keep it like that If I hear the stories about my friends & Vista ... no Vista for me
